Terms of Use
In short: Velocity helps you find run clubs and events. It doesn't organise them. Marking a run as Going doesn't register you with the club, so always use the club's own "Register here" link or channel. You run at your own risk.
1. About Velocity
VelocityAE ("Velocity") is a directory of run clubs and one-off running events in Dubai and the UAE. It is an independent community project based in Dubai, not a registered company. It is currently a preview shared with friends, so features may change or stop working.
2. Accepting these terms
You can browse Velocity without an account. By creating an account or signing in, you agree to these Terms, our Community Guidelines and our Privacy Policy.
3. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Use your own Google account or email address. One person per account.
- You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us if you think it has been misused.
4. Velocity is not the organiser
Run clubs and event organisers listed on Velocity are independent. We don't organise, supervise or insure their runs. Details such as times, meeting points, cost, freebies and links are collected by hand and may be out of date or wrong. Always check with the club before you go.
5. RSVPs
- Marking a run as Going doesn't register you with the club and doesn't reserve a place. Use the club's "Register here" link or their own sign-up process.
- Your RSVPs are used to build your personal calendar (My runs) and your Interested list.
- Other people only see anonymous totals, never your name.
6. Your health and safety
Running carries a risk of injury, heat illness and accidents. You take part in any run at your own risk. Check that you are fit to run, and talk to a doctor if you are unsure. Take Dubai's heat seriously, follow traffic rules and the organiser's instructions, and read our safety tips.
7. Acceptable use
Don't:
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone;
- create fake accounts or post false RSVPs on purpose;
- scrape, copy or resell Velocity's data;
- try to access other people's data or get around our security;
- overload or interfere with the service.
8. Links to other services
Velocity links to Instagram, club registration pages, Google Maps, calendar apps and other services. We don't control them, and their own terms apply.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, pause or stop Velocity, or any feature, at any time. We will try to give notice of big changes.
10. No warranty
Velocity is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including that information is accurate or that the service is always available.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by UAE law, Velocity and the people who run it are not liable for any injury, loss or damage arising from runs you attend, information in the app, or your use of the service.
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Account → Delete account. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, as applied in the Emirate of Dubai.
14. Changes to these terms
When we update these Terms, we change the version and date above. If a change is significant, we will ask you to accept it the next time you sign in.
